10+ DIY Home Decor Project Ideas For Your Cricut
If your home is ready for a design update but you are on a tight budget, you have come to the right place.
With a Cricut cutting machine and some art supplies, you can easily transform any space in your house.
You’ll be surprised how a colorful wall decal or wooden sign can give your room a new feeling.
In this post, I have collected all of my favorite home decor projects that you can do with your Cricut.
Although most projects can be done on any Cricut, a few projects require a Cricut maker with the right blade or the Cricut EasyPress.
With all of that said, let’s go over all the home decor ideas!
1. Vinyl wall art
It’s time to decorate your home with some beautiful wall decals. If you buy these online, you’ll have to pay the big bucks. But you can easily make them at home with a Cricut machine.
You can cut almost any pattern you can think of. Or maybe you could create a motivation quote for your living room.
Most wall decals are quite big. After all, a tiny decal on a huge wall would like a little silly. So if you want to cut a large decal, using the Cricut Maker 3 or Cricut Explore 3 would be your best bet.
These new Cricut machines can work with Smart Materials, which lets you cut designs up to 12 feet long.
If you have an older model that can’t make such large cuts, you can also make several smaller cuts and try to connect them.
2. Wooden signs
If you have any wooden plaque or boards with a smooth surface, you easily decorate it with iron-on vinyl!
You can use your Cricut to cut a vinyl pattern and heat transfer it to the wood.
This is a great and fast way to make your own signs or home decoration.
Just keep in mind that the vinyl normally sticks best to smooth but unfinished wood. If the wood has been sealed, the vinyl might not stick very well.
3. Labels for your pantry
It’s super easy to make labels with a Cricut machine. You can use them to identify your food items in the pantry. Especially if you like to store food in containers or glass jars, these labels are a great first project to try.
You could make written labels like “oats” or “salt”. Or you could cut out small icons for each of your jars.
Besides vinyl, you could also use sticker paper if you don’t need to wash your jars/containers.
4. Acrylic ornaments
Creating ornaments is a great way to decorate your house for the season.
It doesn’t matter if it’s Christmas, Easter, or Halloween. Placing a few of these throughout the house is a great way to get into the festive spirit.
You can really make it as simple or complex as you want it to be. Just to get you started, here are a few ideas: snow crystals or gingerbread cookies for Christmas, a skull or pumpkin for Halloween, a baby bunny or chicken for spring, etc.
5. Chalkboard art
Ever wondered how those restaurants and cafés make those amazing drawing on chalkboard?
Well, here is a little surprise…
They are not always hand draw!
By using your Cricut you can easily create chalkboard art yourself. All you need is the Cricut chalkboard paper, a chalkboard marker, and your own design.
With this method, it’s super easy to make your own decorated chalkboards for in the kitchen, the bathroom, or your front door.
6. Paper flowers
No matter what material you are working with, trying to make flowers is always a fun project. But to be honest, they look the best when made from cardstock!
You can find lots of different flower patterns online. But it’s also super easy to come up with your own ideas. All you need to do is slightly change the shape of the petals, and you’ll end up with a completely new flower.
These flowers are beautiful by themselves and can be used for decoration. Or you can use them in one of your other art/craft projects.
7. Leather wall art
If you have tried several leather projects, you might want to take on something a little more challenging.
This wall art idea is not too difficult to make, but would look good in almost any home.
You’ll need a large wooden panel or a frame to hold the leather. Then use the Cricut to cut out your design.
