10 Simple Vinyl Project Ideas For Your Cricut
Are you looking for some simple Cricut vinyl projects? If you just bought a Cricut machine for the first time, you are probably eager to try it out.
To help you have some fun, we have put together a list of simple projects for beginners that you can use as inspiration.
Most of these projects can be done on any of the Cricut machines. But keep in mind that the Cricut Joy can only cut small designs.
If you didn’t buy a Cricut bundle, you probably don’t have any vinyl available to cut yet. You can use the link below to buy what you need.
Let’s get crafting!
1. Labels for your pantry
It’s super easy to make labels with a Cricut machine. You can use them to identify your food items in the pantry. Especially if you like to store food in containers or glass jars, these labels are a great first project to try.
You could make written labels like “oats” or “salt”. Or you could cut out small icons for each of your jars.
Besides vinyl, you could also use sticker paper if you don’t need to wash your jars/containers.
2. Car decals
With the Cricut it’s easy to cut out vinyl car decals that you can stick to your windows. This is a great way to personalize your car.
You could design your own car decal or use a pre-made design.
Do you have a favorite sports team? Cut out their logo or mascot!
Are you driving with a newborn? Why not cut out a warning and place it on your back window?
Or maybe you simply want to make your car look cool.
3. Keychains
Keychains are a fun way to personalize your keys. With a Cricut machine, you can cut out vinyl for keychains that represent your interests.
For example, if you are a big science fiction fan – why not cut out your favorite spaceship?
If you are constantly losing your keychain, you could make a label with your name on it.
There are many other possibilities for this project. You could even cut out a small picture of your dog and turn it into a keychain!
If you have a Cricut Maker, you could also cut the acrylic backing in the shape that you like.
4. Vinyl stickers
You can use vinyl stickers in many different ways. For example, you could cut out small flower shapes and stick them to the front of your notebook.
Or you could cut out a quote that represents you well.
You could also make fun stickers for your friends to show your appreciation.
You can really go any direction you want with stickers, so don’t be afraid to get creative.
5. Vinyl mugs
Do you like drinking coffee or tea? Why not make your own personalized mug to use at home or work?
You can easily cut out vinyl for mugs in any shape or size. For example, you could make a mug for your mom with a picture of her grandchildren on it.
To make this project even more special, you could add a personal message, such as “I hope you have a great day!” or “Mom, thanks for everything!”
Or you could cut out a motivational quote to keep yourself going through the day.
6. Personalized wine glasses
Are you planning to have friends over for a glass of wine? You can personalize your drinking glasses with vinyl for each of your friends!
You could cut out their names and attach them to the glasses. Or you could cut out something that represents your friends.
Does one of your friends have a dog that she can’t stop talking about? Make them a wine glass with a dog on it.
Or maybe one of your friends as a funny catchphrase? Put it on their wine glass and laugh about it together.
7. Vinyl tumblers
If you like your drinks searing hot or freezing cold, a tumbler is going to be your best friend. So why not give your tumbler a personal touch?
Anything that will keep you going throughout the day would be great.
Maybe a motivational quote from a famous person? Maybe the shape of your favorite animal. Or maybe simply your own name.
After all, you don’t want anyone else to use your tumbler!
8. Blankets
Who doesn’t like a snugly and comfortable blanket? If you are like me, you probably do!
You can already find lots of blankets if you go to your local store. But there is nothing like a personalized blanket just for you.
Sticking vinyl on fabric might sound tricky, but with the right type of vinyl it’s no problem at all.
Another idea is to make a baby blanket as a gift for a baby shower.
9. Wall art
It’s time to decorate your home with some beautiful wall decals. If you buy these online, you’ll have to pay the big bucks. But you can easily make them at home with a Cricut machine.
You can cut almost any pattern you can think of. Or maybe you could create a motivation quote for your living room.
Most wall decals are quite big. After all, a tiny decal on a huge wall would like a little silly. So if you want to cut a large decal, using the Cricut Maker 3 or Cricut Explore 3 would be your best bet.
These new Cricut machines can work with Smart Materials, which lets you cut designs up to 12 feet long.
If you have an older model that can’t make such large cuts, you can also make several smaller cuts and try to connect them.
10. Vinyl T-shirts
Vinyl shirts are super popular. You can find them in almost any clothing store you visit. But did you know that you can easily make them at home with your Cricut!?
To be fair, you can apply vinyl to almost any piece of fabric. So there is no reason to limit yourself to just T-shirts. You can even make vinyl jeans, vinyl caps, vinyl tote bags, etc.
With a little bit of effort, you can upgrade your entire outfit with vinyl!
